Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is American Canadian singer and songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock as well as alternative rock, but it includes influences from punk hip hop, hip-hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco, who is widely known as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning artist is considered the pioneer of DIY music. She was among the first musicians to launch an independent label back in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd 1970. She is the daughter Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco whom she had been in contact while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian heritage and her mother was originally from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the song 32 Flavors. The song debuted on her 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. This track appears on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized for arranging a conference in Louisiana at an old plantation for slaves. She cancelled it but many (including this paper) did not show any remorse. DiFranco apologized again a few days afterward. She's known for her Little Folksinger style, but she's performed with many musicians and genres from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. The singer lives in New Orleans. Ani diFranco, and Kristen Ford are together. In her teens, she started writing her own songs. They were played in the bars and cafes throughout her teens. DiFranco has graduated from her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school at 16 and began attending classes in Buffalo State College. The baritone Ani purchased was a custom Alvarez guitar, designed by Chrys Johnston, who at the time was working as the Alvarez artist rep. It has their System 600 preamp and has all solid woods--a cedar top sides and back, as well as an Ebony fretboard. The owner reside in New Orleans, with her family members: husband and two children. Lefty is their dog friend who wanders around as she talks. Thirty years into her career DiFranco admits she has doubts about seeing herself in the rearview. Singing and writing punk/folk Ani DiFranco was able to achieve musical heroine status at the age of 25, both among fans and critics when she released her seventh studio album Not A Pretty Girl in 1995. She then had even more popular success through Dilate In 1996. The song Brandy (You're the most beautiful girl) was a single released in 1972 from the American pop rock band Looking Glass from their debut album Looking Glass.
